KC Fish Fry

Westphalia Knights of Columbus Council #13902 will sponsor a drive-thru Shrimp & Fish Fry every Friday evening beginning Feb. 16 thru March 22.  Plates will be “to go only” starting at 3:30 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. (or until sold out).  Plates will consist of fried shrimp, fried fish, beans,  slaw and french fries.  Cost will be $12 per plate.  Plates can be picked up in a drive-thru lane behind the Westphalia Parish Hall, 3000 State Highway 320, Westphalia. Proceeds support the KC’s charity goals for the year.

 

vineyard voice

Vineyard Voice - a multi-generational vocal performance ensemble - will perform at First Methodist Church in Cameron on March 3 at 6 p.m. This is a public event. Admission is free of charge. A freewill offering will be taken during the event.

 

GRIEFSHARE

GriefShare, a special help seminar and support group for people experiencing grief over the loss of a loved one, will be held on Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 309 Coleman Street, in Marlin beginning Feb. 7 – May 1, 2024. GriefShare features nationally recognized experts via video on grief recovery topics. Participants can jump in at any session. Women’s Day

The Marlin Missionary First Baptist Church Mission I Auxiliary will host its Women’s Day Conference Sunday, March 3, at 3 p.m. The conference theme, “Pass the Fruit”, Galatians 5:22-23; Philippians 4:13, will be highlighted by speakers including Sis. Clara Johnson, Upper Zion Baptist Church, Sis. Judy Morrow, First Christian Church, Sis. Erma Young, Bible Way Church Family Worship Center, of Marlin; Sis. Janet Cheeves, Zion Hill Baptist Church, Waco, and Sis. Valerie Willis, Cedar Grove Baptist Church-Satin.

The Annual Women’s Day program is Sunday, March 10, at 10 a.m. Sis. Latisha Hartsfield is the theme speaker.  Pastor Jerome McDowell of the Trinity Valley Baptist Church Dallas will be the Guest Messenger. St. paul garage sale

St. Paul Community Church is holding a multi-family garage sale on Friday and Saturday, March 8 & 9. It will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day in the church parsonage at 212 FM 2307 (5 miles north of Marlin off Hwy. 6).

 

SPRINGFEST

St. Mary’s Altar Society & St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Cyclone will host its Springfest on Sunday, March 24. Serving lines being at 11 a.m. Home-fried chicken and sausage with all the trimmings for $15. Dine in or plates to go.

St. Monica’s Ladies Society Festival will be held on April 7 at Simon George Hall in Cameron, 401 S. Karnes. BBQ chicken and sausage dinner for $15 a plate from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dine in or drive thru. Silent auction with plants, raffle, sweet shop, cake wheel and facepainting.

The Texas Czech Genealogical Society, a 501(C)(3) non-profit society, is hosting an estate sale to benefit their museum and library building fund on Saturday, March 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. near Caldwell. Some of the items included are: vintage cultivator/chopper farm implement, 2 - Double bed wood frames w/ mattresses, 5 drawer wood dresser, Wood lathe w/ tools, Air compressor, Nuts, bolts, screws, General hand tools, Various small kitchen appliances and utensils, Bedding (Comforters, sheets, spreads), gardening tools and more. Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans/Outreach.
