DAR MEETING
The Sterling C. Robertson Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will meet on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 1:00. The meeting will be held at a new location, the Waco Chamber of Commerce Building, located at 101 S. 3rd Street in downtown Waco. There is a meeting room there and parking is available. Bob Anne Senter will discuss “I’II Gather My Geese”, the autobiography of Hallie Crawford Stillwell. Hallie married Roy Stillwell in 1918 and learned the ways of a rancher’s wife in the Big Bend area. Her adventures were many. Reading the book before the meeting is not mandatory but you will want to read it after learning about Hallie. This meeting is free and open to the public. Prospective members are encouraged to attend.
FOOD TRUCK
Austin Food Truck will be at the First Baptist Church/Golden Years parking lot on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 10-11 a.m.
FOOD GIVEAWAY
Every second Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at hte Marlin Men’s Civic Association at 1106 N Business Highway 6.
AMERICAN LEGION
Falls County American Legion Post 31 meets the second Monday of the month at 1 Mesquite Tree Lane at 6 p.m. Their phone number is (254) 883-5056.
MARLIN SENIOR CENTER
Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.
VETERANS ASSISTANCE
Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach.
