Falls on the Brazos receives grant for improvements

The Falls County Commissioners Court met at the County Courthouse, Marlin, Texas, on Monday, February 12, 2024, County Judge Jay Elliott presiding. Commissioners present were Milton Albright (Pct. 1), F.A. Green (Pct. 2), Jason Willberg (Pct. 3) and Nita Wuebker (Pct. 4).

Commissioner Wuebker announced a $147,000 grant was received for improvements at the Falls on the Brazos Park.  The racial profiling report of Marion Humphrey, Constable Pct. 2, was approved. It was noted Constable Pct. 3, Jerry Loden, racial profiling report is exempt, for the agency doesn’t  routinely make traffic stops. The Commissioners approved the 2024 annual renewal of the Texas Association of Counties Health and Employee Benefits.

In other matters, the rollover new 12-month period contract between Falls County and Southern Health Partners was renewed with an increase in charges. SHP serves as the one-site provider of inmate medical care. The Marlin Circle K Truck Stop septic system was discussed, but no action was taken. A resolution was approved granting Falls County Judge Jay Elliott Signatory Agent for the Rural Business Development Grant (RBDG). Judge Elliott is authorized and directed to make the application for grant assistance and to sign the acceptance of grant assistance when made and all related documents.

The payment of bills, budget amendments, and minutes from the previous meeting were approved. With no further business, the meeting  adjourned.
