Golden Years celebrates new outpatient therapy gym

On March 20, 2024, Golden Years Nursing & Rehabilitation celebrated the Grand Opening of their new Outpatient Therapy Gym. 

While Golden Years has provided excellent Skilled Nursing care in Marlin for over 60 years, they recently expanded their therapy department to fill the gap that was left with the closing of the Falls Community PT department. They are offering physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy in an outpatient setting. 

They start seeing patients as early as 6 a.m. to accommodate everyone’s work and school schedules. A few specialty treatments offered are the BIG Program for Parkinson’s and BVVA for vertigo. They also treat orthopedics and neurological conditions. 

I got to speak with a couple of the therapists at Golden Years last week. Many of you know Dessa Leamon from her time at FCHC. 

She told me, “I have worked as a PTA in Marlin for over 25 years. It is my passion to help people heal and educate them on best practices for protecting their joints as they age. I look forward to continuing to serve the residents of Marlin, Rosebud, Bremond, and surrounding communities for years to come at Golden Years.”

When asked what makes this therapy department different than those in other cities the Director of Rehab, Cindy Slovacek, said, “There are so many benefits to staying close to home and receiving the same services that you would elsewhere.
