Acres of diamonds

Many years ago there was a farmer who settled in Afirca. He heard of others that had made millions through the discovery of diamonds.

The African continent was rich in diamonds. He could hardly wait to sell his farm and search for diamonds and become rich himself. He sold his farm and spent the rest of his life wandering the continent of Africa and searching for diamonds without any success.

Finally, years later, as an old man, broke and desperate, he threw himself over a bridge and drowned. Meanwhile, the man who bought this mans farm was out plowing one day and found a large unusual stone.

Not only that, the field was covered with them. You guesed it! The man took the stones to an expert and this unusual stone turned out to be a great diamond of enormous value. Today, this farm is one of the richest diamond mines in Africa.

Just think about it. The first farmer sold out and went searching for those riches while all along they were in his own backyard.

Does that sound famaliar? You and I are rich in the same way. Whether we realize it or not, we are some of the most richest people in the whole world.

We may not own a diamond mine. We may not have won the lottery, but oh, we are so rich!

Garth Brooks, in one of his songs says, “You are not rich until you have something that money cannot buy.”

Friends, you and I have so much and all of it is things that money cannot buy. We look at our family and friends and all the other things that we enjoy in life.

The truth of the matter is, everyone of us is setting in our own acres of diamonds. Just make sure that we thank God for them every day.
