Is it really worth it?

There was a husband that got on to his wife pretty hard after he saw her checkbook.

He noticed that all the entries were even dollar amounts. She told him that if the check was for $9.14 then shewould write the check for $9.

If the check was for $6.78 then she would write the check for $7.00. She told her husband that she had been doing that for over a year.

After her husband lectured her on how risky that could be, he spent the next two hours balancing her checkbook to show her how far off she was. Her checkbook was within $3 of being right and it was to her benefit.

Then there was a man who was constantly complaining about the family always leaving the lights on in every room.

The man tried to explain to the family that there was so much money that was being wasted. So for one month, if there was a light left on he would get up and turn it off. So after a month came to an end and he compared last months bill with this months bill, he found out that the bills were the same.

Why do we continue to worry over such trival matters in life? Jesus message to us in the Sermon on the Mount was not to worry. Just be concerned about today.

Solomon spent much of Ecclesiastes telling of all the time and effort he spent seeking the meaning of life in riches, laughter and women, only to find out that in the end that the whole duty of man was to love and respect God and keep His commandments. (Ecclesiastes 12:13) Just how much of our time do we spent worrying about the trivial matters of life?
