Lady Cougars get big win over Milano

The Rosebud-Lott Lady Cougars softball team hosted the Milano Lady Eagles on Friday, March 22. 

The Lady Cougars defeated Milano in eight innings, winning 3-2 in walkoff fashion. 

The first seven innings was a pure pitchers duel, as the game was still scoreless going into the eighth inning. Both pitchers were fantastic, and when they got themselves in a jam, they found a way out. 

Milano got on the scoreboard first in the top of the eighth inning scoring two runs on a triple and a single that put them ahead 2-0. 

The Lady Cougars stayed composed and rallied back for the walkoff win 3-2, scoring all three runs with two outs. Mekenzie Scheler gave the crowd new life and brought in two runs with a powering line drive RBI triple to left field, helping Rosebud-Lott tie the game at 2. 

The Lady Cougars sealed the victory when Scheler came home to score on a passed ball that got by the catcher to secure the win 3-2 in exciting walkoff fashion.

The team collected eight hits in the game, Kinsley Edwards led the team with two. 

Along with being the hero at the plate, Scheler earned the win on the circle for Rosebud-Lott. She pitched an absolute gem, allowing eight hits and two runs over eight innings, striking out six and walking one. 

The next day, the Lady Cougars traveled to take on the Thorndale Lady Dogs. Rosebud-Lott was shut out by Thorndale, losing 5-0.

With this loss, Rosebud-Lott has an overall record of 10-6-1 and a district record of 6-2. 

After playing a home game against the Granger Lady Lions on Tuesday, the Lady Cougars will not play Friday as it will be their off day. 

Rosebud-Lotts next game will be at home when they host the Holland Lady Hornets. The game will be on Tuesday April 2 and is set for 5:30 p.m.
