Honoring the African American people and their heritage
• Ernestine Warren was Rosebud’s first African-American mayor. She was elected in 1995 and served until 1999.
• Wilbert Freeman, a Rosebud resident, played bass guitar for the legendary blues artist B.B. King.
• Mose Hill Sr. of Rosebud was the city’s first African-American police officer. He graduated Wilson White High in Rosebud and served 17 years on the Rosebud police force. The Texas House Legislative named June 2 1997 as Mose Hill Day to a 100% standing ovation.
