HOTBHN’s LOSS Team’s Support Healing and Connection in the Community
WACO, TX— HOTBHN’s Heart of Texas Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) Team, thanks to the Project Healing and Engaging After Loss (HEAL) grant award from Texas Health and Human Services (HHS), raises awareness about International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day on November 22, 2025.
Project HEAL is a partnership with select LMHAs in Texas that serve geographic areas with higher rates of suicide deaths to strengthen suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention support and services to people, families, and communities.
International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day is an event in which survivors of suicide loss come together to find connection, understanding, and hope through their shared experience.
Katherine Clendennen, HOTBHN LOSS Team Coordinator, says, “International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day is a powerful opportunity to honor those we’ve lost and support those left behind.” Clendennen describes that spreading awareness leads to connections, and connections lead to healing. Clendennen continues, “Our community grows stronger each time we choose to reach out and stand beside one another… building a network of hope, healing, and understanding throughout our community.”
The HOTBHNs LOSS Team assists survivors with making connections possible by offering immediate and ongoing support. A support group is available on the third Tuesday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 1624 Wooded Acres Drive, Waco, TX.
