Preservation Rosebud Plans 100+ Garage Sales Fundraiser
Have you ever driven past the Old City Hall/Fire Station, now Preservation Rosebud, and wondered about the museum inside? At the 100+ Garage Sales on November 1, you will have an opportunity to join Preservation Rosebud and tour the renovated display area for a $20 yearly membership fee.
At last year’s garage sale, President Les Heugatter had a question for shoppers: “ Did you know that Rosebud has its own museum?” Most people didn’t know about Preservation Rosebud. It’s located at 117 N. 2nd St., just south of the D. Brown Library and is a hidden gem of Rosebud.
The museum needs more visibility with eye catching recognition from Main St., so plans are underway for a new sign. Facilities Manager James Prothro has been closely working with Sign Craftsmen of Texas in Temple to design a sign. Raising $10,500 for a permanent sign requires fundraising, grant writing, and membership drives.
On Thursday, October 30 at 9:00 a.m., members and guests of Preservation Rosebud will meet at the museum for a short meeting and workday to prepare for the 100+ Garage Sales and price items. Proceeds will go toward the cost of the planned sign.
Since 2022, board members of Preservation Rosebud have participated in the 100+ Garage Sales as a fundraiser. Greg and Marla Wallace have generously provided their pavilion for the event. This year the sale has been relocated to the museum and will offer tables of unique holiday decor, candles, and antiques.
Those wishing to make a donation toward the new sign may contact Treasurer Alfred Martinez at Preservation Rosebud, P. O. Box 792, Rosebud, TX 76570. Lifetime memberships are $200 and yearly memberships are $20. All donations and membership fees are tax deductible. Become a new member, support your local museum, and enjoy touring Preservation Rosebud on November 1.
