A Slip of the Tongues

“Raise your right hand and repeat after me,” was the phrase the contestants were attempting to guess on the popular game show, Wheel of Fortune.

The contestant had fourteen thousand dollars. He wanted to buy a vowel and ask for a “Y” then quickly said, “I mean an “I.” A mere slip of the tongue caused him to lose his turn and subsequently, $14,000.

Just a  small slip of the tongue can cause a lot of problems, ill feelings and heart aches. It has happened to all of us.

Solomon says, “Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his  soul from trouble.” (Proverbs 21:23)

This is why God’s word, which is always wise and true, continually admonishes us to guard our tongue. As we know, even as the proverbial bell cannot be unrung, neither can spoken words be unsaid.
