Wednesday Study Club December Meeting
Kelly Hughes, librarian of the D Brown Memorial Library, reported on the progress of the kitchen remodel for the meeting room to the members of the Wednesday Study Club at their December 10 meeting.
She plans to replace the ceiling fan, light fixture, kitchen sink and faucet and countertops. Then, if the finances allow, she also plans to replace the stove, refrigerator and microwave. In all, the re-do should run a little over $19,000. A $12,000 donation from Falls County and a $5,000 donation from Allicia Winkleman should cover most of the cost.
The sounds of Christmas carols filled the meeting room as the members celebrated Christmas.
Carol Stock, president, led the singing, accompanied by Ann Sonntag on the keyboard. Printed lyrics were provided by Norma Burns.
To begin the program Stock read a meditation “Keeping Christmas” by the Rev. Peter Marshall. The group also held an ornament exchange.
In club business, Stock mentioned that donations to the Rosebud Police Department’s Blue Santa program could be made in the library and that volunteers to act as hosts at the open house of the RHS Memorial Room for the Golden Years Reunion in April were needed.
At the conclusion of the meeting members were served a lunch of pigs in the blanket, a breakfast casserole with hash browns and a ham quiche. Desserts were a variety of fresh fruit, mini muffins and holiday cookies. A short runner held a holiday arrangement of candles, holly, pine cones, greenery and red and white plaid ribbon. The arrangement was flanked on one end by a painted gourd Santa, sporting a poinsettia on his belly. Hostesses were Sheryl Fuchs, Karen Koslosky and Candy Fikes.
