A Christmas Gift from God

Weekly Devotional

Friday is Christmas Day. If you don't have all of your Christmas shopping done, don't worry about it, because it is too late now! Did you get all of your Christmas cards mailed out?

Did you hear about the man from Salt Lake City (a true story) who, during the year,  gathered up phone books from different places he visited during the year? He went through the phone books and randomly picked out 600 names and addresses and mailed out Christmas cards to complete strangers.

Amazingly he received 117 responses from these strangers.

One lady wrote, It was so good to hear from you. Your card arrived the day I returned home from the hospital and I can not tell you what an encouragement it was to hear from an old friend.

Another wrote, I admit, when we received your card, we really could not picture you. We had to think long and hard before we remembered you. By the way, give our regards to your dad. He is such a wonderful man.

But the one that really took the cake was, one man wrote, it was so good to hear from you after all these years. By the way, we are going to be in Salt Lake City next summer. Would it be alright if we came by and spent a few days?

We send our cards. We spend so much time and money searching for that special gift.

Sadly enough in all the hussel and bussel we forget that God has already given to us the perfect gift. That gift is  His Son.

Please remember the reason for the season and let me wish each and everyone a very Merry Christmas.
