Track season kicks off for cougars, meet results

The Rosebud-Lott Cougar Track and Field teams attended their first meet of the season at Ennis this week. Both the girls and the boys teams at all levels did extremely well.

Senior Breon Lewis brought home the gold on the Triple Jump while teammate Jamarquis John was right behind him on the Triple Jump. Johnson also came in second place in the Long Jump. The varsity 4x200 relay team made up of Lewis, Johnson, Jonathan Adamez, and Carlos Saucedo brought home the bronze.

For the varsity girls, Lady Cougar Kaylee Williams placed eighth on the shot put. 

The JV teams outshined their counterparts, with many many athletes coming home with finishing places.

For the boys, Easton Fulton brought home the gold in the Discus competition and third in the Shot Put. Kyle Finan came in first on both the Triple and Long Jumps, as well as placed third in the 300 hurdles. The 4x400 relay team of Jason Allison, Brandon Herrera, Aiden Valdez, and DJ Hicks brought home third place.

The JV Girls Team placed third overall in the meet. Mercedes Buhl placed first in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Lakya Jackson placed second on the Discus and third on the Shot Put. Senior Jackie Salazar came home with second place in the Triple Jump, fifth place in the 100-meter Dash, and eighth place in the 200-meter Dash. Ava Hrabal placed fourth in Discus and sixth in the 200-meter dash. Illeana Rodgrigues placed fourth in shot and third in the 400-meter dash. Sara Rodriguez came home with a fourth place spot in the 1600 run. 

The Lady Cougars will travel to Taylor on March 10 for the next JV meet and March 11 for the next varsity meet. Check rlisd.org for the most up to date scheduling information.
