Domestic violence suspect shot in Reisel

A 46-year-old man was fatally shot in a police involved shooting in the early hours of Oct. 16.

The situation began as a disturbance call placed around 11:45 p.m. the night before, with McLennan County Sheriff Deputies responding to a domestic violence accusation on CR 181 just outside of Reisel in Falls County.

When officers arrived on the scene, they were shot at by the individual, identified as William Lane, a convicted felon.

His wife and two children, aged 11 and 12, made it out of the residence safely, though shooting continued afterwards as the Texas Department of Public Safety officers arrived on scene

SWAT and additional DPS helicopters arrived on scene around 3 a.m., causing an additional confrontation with the man. This led to Lane attempting to flee the scene. Helicopters surveyed the area until nearly 5 a.m. in order to find Lane as he hid in the brush.

Lane was finally killed after having shot at officers many times throughout the evening.
