Falls County sees second Covid-19 death

Falls County saw its second death in less than two weeks from the coronavirus. It is unknown where these deaths are located nor any information about them, as it is not being released by county officials. There are a total of 110 cases that have been identified since March, which is incredibly low compared to larger areas in the state. 

It has been at this level since Saturday, Aug. 1, as recovery numbers have begun to climb. There was only a 6.5 percent increase in the last week, with a total of 61 recoveries and 47 cases currently active. Cases are relatively split evenly between both males and females and on each side of the Brazos River. 

Testing has continued to rise, citing 2,406 tests administered on Sunday, Aug. 2. There are currently 6.63 cases per thousand people.

Falls County may have the lowest number of total cases, but  it does not have the least number of active cases. Milam County only has 23 active, with a total of 327 cases. There has been a rise in total cases by about 12 percent since July 28. There have been 2,348 tests given overall and the county has a total of three fatalities. Milam is sitting at 12.42 cases per 1,000.

Robertson County has 81 active cases and 134 recovered ones. With the single death recorded, that brings the total cases to 216. This is an 11.34 percent increase, bringing the total to 12.79 cases per 1,000 individuals in Robertson County. There have been a total of 1,368 tests administered.

Limestone County has less than 15 more active cases as Robertson, though the two counties saw synonymous numbers for multiple weeks. There are a total of 91 active cases and 105 recovered cases, bringing total cases up to 199. There has been about a 40 percent increase in the last week, with a total of 2,024 tests administered. Limestone has about 8.5 cases per 1,000 people in the county. 

Bell County has the second to most number of active cases, topped only by McLennan County. There are 1,627 active cases, 1,869 recoveries, and there have been 32 deaths allocated to COVID-19 relation. This is a total of 3,496 cases, also less than McLennan. There has been an increase of 13.58 percent since July 28 and leaves the county at 9.89 cases per thousand people in the documented population. There have been nearly 30,000 tests administered overall. 

McLennan County has a total of 4,436 positive cases ,with 1,761 active and 1,869 recovered. This is a 11.29 percent increase, also the largest increase of all the surrounding counties. This takes the total of cases per thousand to 17.53. There have been a total of 39 deaths and 23,110 tests given within the county.

This is the first week the State of Texas has not broken any of its previous records for total daily cases or total daily fatalities. As it stands, there are 137,576 active cases, there have been 7,016 coronavirus fatalities, and nearly 9 million tests given. The state has had a total of 442,014 positive cases reported, with 297,422 of those cases currently recovered.
