RLHS Takes More than the Stage for One-Act Play

“For, from this day, I, Mary Girard, shall be truly and happily insane.”

On Wednesday, March 1, the Rosebud-Lott One- Act company performed “The Insanity of Mary Girard,” by Lanie Robertson, for district competition in Temple.

There is a lot involved in the preparation of a one-act play. “Students were to get to school by 6:30,” said Ruth Lombardo. “I wanted to make sure the kids got fed and wanted to make sure we had gathered all of the props and clothes we needed.” The students received the script in October to give them time to find and rehearse the part they wanted for auditions. After auditions were held and the students were assigned their roles, the process of cutting the play, making it shorter for the time limit that is set, was next.
