Rosebud Resident turns 97 during pandemic

Maybell Lewis, long-time Rosebud resident, turned 97 on Friday, April 24. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, her family wasn’t able to plan the party they wanted to, but they made sure their beloved matriarch was celebrated. 

A drive-by birthday party was arranged instead; a parade to salute Lewis’ next year. Cars passed by the residence as Lewis and housemates waved from the driveway and lawn, smiling and thanking everyone for coming. “We love you” rang through the neighborhood many a time as social distancing kept everyone apart, needing to shout.

The parade, complete with decorated cars, signs, and gifts, ended with a singing of Happy Birthday. Both the Rosebud Police and Volunteer Fire departments came out to celebrate with Lewis’ family and friends, lights flashing and sirens going.
