School Board takes an indepth look at student outcomes

Two weekends ago members of the School Board, along with Dr. Brownlee, attended the Region 12 Lone Star Governance training.

According to TEA, who puts on the training each year, school boards should be spending about 50 percent of their meeting time going over student progress.

While the Rosebud-Lott Board has always put an emphasis on the academic progress of the students, they still looked for ways that they could devote more time to look at how the students where doing, and what they are responding to over all.

The Board has always been eager to look over the data on things like test scores, and recognize students for their achievements, even if they are not academic.

After the training members have decided to start devoting more time to these things during their monthly meetings.

The training got the board started on a new setup for the beginning of their meetings, where they will now be given presentations from each of the principals on the academic progress of the student body at each campus.

Now, in the future the principles will have about three minutes to explain how the students under them are progressing, and the outcomes of what teachers across the district are doing with their students.

Another thing the board looked over was the new bus route

• Demaudre Peel of Marlin was indicted for Possession of Methamphetamine <1 gram 3 years deferred probation, $1,500 fine, 120 hours community service, and drug intervention class.

• Geneva Goode of Yoakum was indicted for Possession of Cocaine < 1g, 5 years probation, $1,500 fine, 120 hours community service, and attend drug school.

• Sammie Ward of Purdon was indicted for Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair, 3 years deferred probation, $1,500 fine, 120 hours community service, and report. Students and parents who utilize the districts busses were introduced to a new rout this year so the transportation department could get ready for how things would run when the new elementary school is built.

Robbie Simms presented his finding to the board this past week and according to the report, drivers have cut out 367 miles per week, which adds up to 13,160 less miles over the year. This also means that there will be a reduction in fuel cost for the school

drug intervention class.

• George Hall of Killeen was indicted for Possession of Methamphetamine <1g, 3 years deferred probation, $1,500 fine, 180 hours community service, and drug intervention class.

• Doris Robinson of Lott was indicted for Possession of Cocaine <1g, revoked probation and 20 months confinement in a State Jail Facility.
