Texas Dental Association Distributes 300,000 N95 respirators to Texas Dentists

AUSTIN, Texas–The Texas Dental Association (TDA) has distributed 300,000 N95 respirators to Texas dentists amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This effort follows TDA’s advocacy efforts to safely reopen dental practices. On May 1, Governor Greg Abbott pledged an emergency shipment of 300,000 N95 respirators to the TDA for distribution to Texas dentists.

“The Texas Dental Association is ecstatic that, through the strong partnership with Gov. Abbott, 300,000 N95 respirators have been shipped to dentists all throughout Texas,” Dr. Charles W. Miller, president of the TDA board, said. “Our top priority is to aid Texas dental practices with the resources and proper protection they need in order to safely reopen and operate. All Texans deserve access to dental care, and that includes ensuring dental care is safe for all Texas dentists, dental teams, and patients.”

The TDA subsequently worked with Governor Greg Abbott’s office and the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) on additional sustaining orders so that dentists across the state and their patients can remain safe and confident in the dental office.
