Waste Management Service Updates

Still at Phase IV

Trash pick-up through Waste Connections of Texas will continue throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, barring a full government lockdown.

The company is continuing to operate at Phase IV of the COVID-19 response plan, released on March 19. It is currently in effect until April 30, 2020 when Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s current executive order on social distancing and essential services is set to be lifted.

Phase IV details limited coverage depending on the spread of cases and what governmental acts are in effect.

During this time, only what is inside issued receptacles will be collected. Household trash that is not properly bagged and tied is susceptible to spills and further increases the risk of exposure for personnel if they must collect it by hand. This goes for both residential waste and recycling.

In order to “maximize operational efficiency,” recycled contents will not actually be recycled during this crisis, but will be commingled with residential waste.

There will be no bulk or brush pick-up until at least April 30 as well, but the City of Rosebud Brush Dump will be open again on April 25, barring any major weather interference. It is open every other Saturday from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. The City of Rosebud Brush Dump at the corner of CR 351 and CR 353. To get there, head west on FM 1963 until you get to CR 351. Take a left, then go over two until you hit CR 351.The Dump is on the right side of the road.

If a full lock down is implemented before the coronavirus pandemic passes, Waste Connections will go into Phase V of their response plan, which states that collection services will be suspended. If that is the case, the company will revert back to Phase IV once the lockdown is lifted and cycle backwards to Phase I until full coverage is accessible again.
