Falls County Sheriff Officer Assigned to Chilton ISD

Falls County Commissioners Court met Monday, August 25, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., County Judge Jay Elliott presiding. The commissioners present were Milton Albright (Pct. 1), F. A. Green (Pct. 2), Jason Willberg (Pct. 3), and Nita Wuebker (Pct. 4). ADA Steve Sharp was not present.

The Commissioner’s Court discussed the addendum to the interlocal agreement for assessment and collection of taxes between the Taxing Unit and the County. Effective September 1, 2025, SB 850 aimed to streamline the process for issuing refunds on ad valorem (property) taxes in Texas. Sheriff Campbell submitted a supply invoice for an office building project at the Sheriff’s Department.

On another note, Commissioners approved several agenda items: (1) Dean Tate to fill the vacancy as the Falls County ESD #1Secretary, (2) ESD #1 2024 Annual Audit, (3) Tri-County SUD Road bore on CR 116, and (4) a $275,229.64 Indigent Health Care payment.

Effective October 1, an interlocal agreement between Falls County and Chilton ISD was approved by the Commissioners. Uniformed Falls County Sheriff Officer will be assigned to CISD campuses as a School Resource Officer (SRO). This agreement will establish a joint cooperative effort and relationship between the County and CISD to foster an efficient and cohesive program that will build a positive relationship between the County Sheriff Department, CISD administration and staff, and CISD students.

Jeff Jackson, Road & Bridge Administrator, reported the position opened as of September 1. The department continues to wait for FEMA‘s damaged August 25 financial assistance. Jackson also noted issues with bank credit cards, but agreed to visit with the County Auditor.

The August 11 and August 15, minutes were approved. Commissioners approved the payment of bills. Regarding the proposed 2025-2026 budget, including the filing of the proposed budget, recorded vote on consideration of proposed tax rate, publishing of public notice and setting of pubic hearing Mon, Sept. 8, the vote on the adoption of the budget and the vote on the adoption of the tax rate increase Mon., Sept. 8. The proposed tax rate is .764650.
