A Wickedly Wild, Wonderfully Weird October Awaits in Falls County!
Your friends at Falls County’s favorite weekly publication are rolling out a Halloween-themed writing contest—one filled with more fun and delight than a bulging trick-or-treat bag!
It starts with a good story—your story. Everyone loves a ghost story, right? How about sharing yours with the “Marlin Democrat”, the “Rosebud News”, and all our readers? Welcome to our fun and frivolous Halloween Writing Contest—we’re anxiously awaiting your entries!
Here’s how it works:
Pretty simple, right?
One winner will be selected, and that story will be published—along with the author’s name and photo—in October. If the judges choose any honorable mentions, those stories will be featured on our website (as long as they’re not too scary for the public).
We suggest dusting off the cobwebs—unless cobwebs feel story-appropriate— and getting busy. You know the first rule of writing, right? Butt in chair! So get yourself in front of a keyboard and let those fingers fly.
Tell us a ghost story, a spooky tale, maybe a piece of fiction about who or what is haunting The Falls Hotel—or the Lone Oak Cemetery. Or perhaps a tale spun from one of the pre-consolidation high schools. That’s the great thing—it’s a Halloeween writing contest, so the who, what, where, and when are all up to you!
How to enter:
Simply email your story to publisher@marlindemocrat. com with the subject line “ Halloween Writing Contest”. To ensure prompt and accurate judging, please type your story—handwritten submissions will not be accepted. If you email, copy and paste your story into the body of the email rather than sending it as an attachment.
We can’t wait to see what creepy, kooky, mysterious, spooky—or altogether ooky—stories you send our way!
