Preservation Rosebud Plans Open House for Golden Years Alumni and Rosebud Community
Preservation Rosebud has welcomed returning alumni who come to Rosebud for the Golden Years Reunion since the Class of ’64 was the honor class. This year the museum will be open for extended hours to also welcome the community of Rosebud to visit the museum. For many people, this will be their first time to actually step inside the doors and see the renovations first hand. If you’ve driven by the building with the two fire trucks outside and wondered what’s inside, now is your chance to find out. Look for the colorful “Open” flag flying outside and join us.
Preservation Rosebud will open the museum to welcome the Rosebud High School Golden Years alumni and invites the Rosebud community to join this event on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Local residents and visitors can tour the building, spend time seeing the many displays, and see improvements to the Old City Hall/Fire Station, as well as visiting with friends and enjoying refreshments.
Rosebud High School alumni returning for the 45th Golden Years Reunion can gather at the museum located at 117 N. 2nd St for a 9:00 a.m. morning reception hosted by Preservation Rosebud before heading to St. Ann’s. The ladies of the Wednesday Study Club will open the Stubbs Memorial Room next door at the D. Brown Library that morning beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In 2014, Marla Zipperlen Wallace, Rosebud-Lott Class of ’73, had a vision for a reception at the museum hosted by Preservation Rosebud. Those traveling distances could come to town early and have a place to relax and reconnect with friends. This began a tradition of hospitality that has continued through the years and has extended to the 50+ Classes of Rosebud-Lott High School when they meet on August 1 to honor the Classes of ’71, ’72, ’73, ’74, ’75, and ’76. This will mark Preservation Rosebud’s third time to provide a reception for returning Cougars.
Preservation Rosebud and President Les Heugatter are proud to provide a free day at the museum to the Rosebud community. This project of restoring the building to become a first-class museum began in 2005 when the Rosebud Historical Society was established in the vacant city hall and fire station building. The group’s mission was to make Rosebud’s past enhance its future. Today the museum is ready for the public to visit. The museum provides wheelchair access with a ramp to the lower-level display area, making everyone able to enter easily.
Joining President Les Heugatter to greet visitors and returning guests will be Vice President Greg Wallace, Secretary/Publicist Fran Heugatter, Treasurer Alfred Martinez, Facilities Manager James Prothro, La Verne Withers, Iris Sharp, Grant Writers Caroline Akers Wright and Marla Wallace and Board Members Joe and Sharon Saunders.
Preservation Rosebud will meet on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. to prepare for the open house. It will be “all hands on deck” to polish and shine the museum for a great celebration – a party for the Golden Alumni of Rosebud High School and a salute to the Rosebud Community. Come and enjoy the history of Rosebud, have your picture taken on the new settee for our Facebook page, and help us make this a grand day for Rosebud.
