Rosebud VFD receives donation thanks to fireman’s actions

The Rosebud Volunteer Fire Department received a donation of $500 thanks to firefighter and EMT Jay Shults and his endless compassion.

He was honored for his humanity, respect, and understanding in handling a difficult situation in early November.

During the evening hours on Nov. 4, a Rosebud resident was taking her two pups, Bella and Peanut, outside for a bathroom break, when the pit bull that lived next door attacked Bella, the 11-year-old female fox terrier.

“I screamed bloody murder as I ran after it,” she told reporters. “It dragged the body back towards its house and wouldn’t let me near.”

Neighbors a block away heard the screams and raced to help, calling 911 along the way. Shults received the call while attending an EMT class and was unaware of the full scope of the situation at hand.

“The call came out that a dog had attacked an individual,” he explained. “It was definitely an unfortunate call.”
