Elliott: Courthouse computers will need replacing within next year

Most of the computers used in the Fall County Courthouse will need replacing within the next year.

Falls County Judge Jay Elliott made that announcement last week at the Commissioner’s Court meeting. The county’s computers are currently running on Windows 7 software, which is being phased out by Microsoft as of Jan. 14, 2020. It will no longer be serviced or supported at all.

“From my understanding from Lynn, there is a work around that you can do for a year,” Elliott explained to commissioners. “But when it comes to budget time - that’s why I wanted to make sure you guys understand.”

Lynn, last name unknown, is a software engineer with the tech support company the county uses.
