Area Volleyball Scores

It was a busy week for area volleyball teams. The season is slowly winding down as district play will end over the next two weeks. Several teams have a chance to advance to post season playoffs, and the next several matches will become very important to the coaches and players. Here’s a look at how teams fared last week.

Tuesday, October 7

Cameron Yoe played Franklin in a district match. The Lady Lions ended making a sweep of the Lady Yoemen in three sets.

The Buckholts Lady Badgers dropped their match with North Zulch in three sets, 1825, 12-25, 16-25. The loss moves Buckholts to 9-4-1 on the year, and 0-1 in district play. Playing on the road this week, the Rosebud-Lott Lady Cougars defeated the Chilton Lady Pirates in three sets, 2517, 25-11, 25-15.

The Marlin Lady Bulldogs dropped their district match against Riesel in three sets, 2514, 25-8, 25-10. Marlin is now 14-15 on the season, and 1-3 in district.

Thorndale’s varsity Lady Dogs swept the Milano Lady Eagles in three sets, 25-19, 2511, 25-15.

Thursday, October 9

The Thorndale junior high volleyball teams made a clean sweep of the Granger Lady Lions. The 7th grade Lady Dogs won 25-16, 25-10; The 8th grade Lady Dogs won by the score of 25-5, 25-10; The 7th/8th grade combo won their match, 25-12, 25-12.

Friday, October 10

The Rosebud-Lott Lady Cougars put up a fight against the Bremond Lady Tigers before falling in five sets, 19-25, 9-25, 25-21, 25-23, 7-15. The Lady Cougars split matches this week, moving their season record to 14-12, and district record to 3-2.

Chilton Lady Pirates fell to Riesel in three sets, 6-25, 10-25, 10-25. Season record for the hard fighting Lady Pirates goes to 0-16, and 0-5 in district competition.

The varsity Thorndale Lady Dogs chalked up another sweep, this time over the Bartlett Lady Dogs, 25-11, 2511, 25-10; Thorndale’s JV Maroon team defeated Bartlett’s JV team, 25-10, 25-21.

The Lady Yoemen varsity volleyball team fell toAcademy in four sets, 27-25, 18-25, 2125, 11-25. Cameron Yoe JV Maroon beat the JV Bumblebees in three sets, 26-24, 21-25, 15-13, and the JV Gray swept in two, 25-13, 25-21.

The Lady Yoemen move to 19-13 on the season and 1-6 in district play.

Saturday, October 11

The Milano Lady Eagles played a tough match against the Holland Lady Hornets. The Lady Hornets ended up with the district win in four sets, 23-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-20.
