KC Fish Fry

Westphalia Knights of Columbus Council #13902 will sponsor a drive-thru Shrimp & Fish Fry every Friday evening beginning Feb. 16 thru March 22.  Plates will be “to go only” starting at 3:30 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. (or until sold out).  Plates will consist of fried shrimp, fried fish, beans,  slaw and french fries.  Cost will be $12 per plate.  Plates can be picked up in a drive-thru lane behind the Westphalia Parish Hall, 3000 State Highway 320, Westphalia. Proceeds support the KC’s charity goals for the year.

 

42 DOMINO 

TOURNAMENT

The annual Westphalia Knights of Columbus Council “42” Domino Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 18, at the Westphalia Community Parish Hall, Highway 320 in Westphalia. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. continuing until 12:30pm with play starting shortly after that.  Each player will draw for a partner between rounds and will play four (4) thirty five-minute rounds. Cost is $5 per player. Prizes will be awarded to the top players. GRIEFSHARE

GriefShare, a special help seminar and support group for people experiencing grief over the loss of a loved one, will be held on Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 309 Coleman Street, in Marlin beginning Feb. 7 – May 1, 2024. GriefShare features nationally recognized experts via video on grief recovery topics. Participants can jump in at any session. PLANT SALE

The annual Milam County Master Gardener Plant Sale is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Milam County Expo Building, 301 S. Houston, in Cameron.  A raffle will be conducted at the sale with winners announced throughout the day. Come early to have the best selection of natives, EarthKind, pollinators, vegetables, succulents, herbs, roses, and lots of blooming plants.

 

TEXAS INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

Texas Independence Day is March 2. Celebrate our Freedom in Bremond. Fundraiser for Restrooms in Lumberyard Park. Activities include a meal from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 113 S. Main. Cost is $20. Other activities are: gun raffle, BBQ cookoff, Antique Car Show, parade and speaker. Sponsored by Keep Bremond Clean.

 

LAST CHANCE CEU EVENT

A Last Chance CEU event will be conducted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Waco and is scheduled for Feb. 20 at the McLennan County AgriLife Extension office located at 4224 Cobbs Dr. Waco, TX 76710. This seminar will provide participants with the opportunity to receive up to seven (7) CEUs.  Of the seven (7) hours, three (3) hours will be in Laws & Regulations, one (1) hour will be in General, two (2) hours in IPM, and one (1) hour in Drift.  Program registration cost is $45 for all seven hours or $20 for one hour and $10 for each additional hour after that. VETERANS ASSISTANCE

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans/Outreach.
