Central Cross Country Report

Cross-country teams from Falls and Milam counties competed in meets this past week, with several of our coverage area high schools bringing home medals. Chilton’s 8th grade teams placed at the Cen-Tex Showdown 2025 in Mart last Wednesday. The 8th grade boys team finished sixth out of 11 teams, and the 8th grade girls placed fifth out of

12 teams. Chilton’s Chris Carrizales finished in second place for the 7th grade boys CC team at the meet. The junior varsity girls team brought home medals after finishing third. Kennison Huitt was the top runner for the JV girls and finished first in the JV Girls 2 Mile Run. Teammate Natika Thomas followed with a second place finish, and Magoli Lara crossed the finish line in seventh place, giving Chilton three Top 10 finishers.

Rosebud-Lott competed in the same meet, with their varsity girls team finishing fifth out of 13 teams competing, and the varsity boys also placing fifth out of 12 teams. Rolando Costilla had a nice race, finishing in third place in the 7th Grade Boys 2 Mile Run.

Junior High teams competed in the Yoe Summer Finale for junior high teams last week. Cameron Yoe’s Jayde Smith finished in second place overall in the

8th Grade Boys 2 Mile Run, as the team placed fourth out of 14 teams. Thorndale’s 7th grade CC team finished seventh out of 13 teams at the meet, and Milano also had representation at the meet as well.

At the Dale Keen Invitational 2025 held in Cameron, the varsity boys claimed 2nd place out of

13 teams competing. Ricardo Reyes finished in second place overall, Steven Marquez III came in fifth place, and Estaban Luna finished seventh overall for Cameron Yoe.

At the Lake Belton Bronco Invitational 2025, held in Temple, Lukas Gates placed sixth in the JV Boys

5k Run for the Thorndale JV cc team. Thorndale’s Jamie Llanas took fourth place overall in the 1A-4A Varsity Boys 5k Run. The boy’s cc team finished in fifth place. On the girl’s side for Thorndale, three runners finished in the Top 10 in the 1A-4A Varsity Girls 2 Mile Run. Skielee Bear placed 2nd, Raven Sandoval third, and Nadia Gonzalez finished in fourth place as the team came in second overall. Here are the results from last week’s meets.
