City Council OKs audit results, cancels election

Lott City Council met in regular session at 6 p.m. March 11 at the Lott Civic Center. Mayor Annita Tindle called the meeting to order and Mayor Pro Tem David Henning opened the meeting with a prayer.

The first item of business was the reviewing of the 2017-18 city budget with auditor, Don Allman. There was a great deal of discussion over the fluidity of funds from month to month and of all the variables that can influence the accounting of exact numbers. The often-delayed processing by credit card companies of payments and deposits was one given as one of the reasons accounting of exact amounts can be temporarily thrown off, but with careful reexamination the amounts should be able to be reconciled. The council noted these particulars and the audit was then accepted by council vote.

The next item of business was the certifying of unopposed council candidates. This was certified by the council, and no election needed to be call for in May.
