Commissioners take care of county business
Voters across Falls County cast ballots in several local elections, selecting school board trustees and city officials.
According to unofficial results, 568 of the county’s 12,628 registered voters participated, a turnout of 4.5 percent.
Rosebud-Lott Independent School District board of trustees election drew the highest turnout in the county, with 402 ballots cast. Voters were asked to select up to four at-large trustees. Emily Hering led the field with 225 votes, followed by Eric Moeller led the field with 232 votes, followed by Emily Hering with 225, Kyle Halfmann with 201 and Henry Bravo with 147. All four appear to have won seats. Others receiving votes were Jake Taylor with 137, Brian McGinnis with 117, Kaili Jo Williams-Thomson with 1004, Luke Sell with 100 and Clay Ellison with 81.
In the Marlin Independent School District trustee race for Single Member District 2, Will Roe defeated Misty Ehlers with 69.44 percent of the vote. Roe received 25 votes compared to Ehlers’ 11.
The Marlin Mayor Susan R. Byrd ran unopposed and earned 84 votes. Marlin also held city council elections in three precincts two of which were unopposed. In Precinct 1, Michael Milnes won with 31 votes. In Precinct 3, Terence W. McDavid defeated Melissa Mahoney with 41 votes to her 14. Precinct 5 saw Cecil B. Sparks secured the seat with 9 votes, running unopposed.
