Corpse found after area fire

A corpse was found in the wreckage of a house fire near Golinda late Saturday evening.

Around 10:20 p.m., the Golinda Volunteer Fire Department, as well as the Falls County Sheriff’s Office, answered the call to tend to a fire that was reported along Farney Road.

Falls County Chief Deputy Derick Johnson told reporters that a body was discovered inside the blazing building.

An autopsy has been directed in order to determine the cause of death. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

The State Fire Marshal's Office is assisting with the investigation, which is still ongoing.
