Cougar Theatre presents The Diviners on stage March 8
“The Diviners” is a stage play written by Jim Leonard Jr. The play is set in the fictional town of Zion, Indiana, during the Great Depression. It explores themes of faith, friendship, and the power of healing.
The story revolves around a young man named Buddy Layman (Lane Endsley), who has a deep fear of water due to a traumatic incident in his childhood and C.C. Showers (Chris Powell), a former preacher, who befriends Buddy and recognizes his unique talent.
As the story unfolds, the characters face personal and emotional challenges. Buddy’s gift becomes a source of both wonder and fear. The play ultimately explores the complexities of faith, the power of belief, and the impact of personal fears and limitations on individual lives.
“The Diviners” is known for its poignant and touching portrayal of human relationships, as well as its exploration of themes such as isolation, community, and the search for meaning in difficult times.
