D Brown Library receives a little beautification

The City of Rosebud continues to help beautify Rosebud. The D Brown Library is the recipient of such good deeds.

After last year’s hailstorm, a new roof was needed, and CenTex Roofing of Waco recently completed that job.  A number of years ago the Wednesday Study Club allocated funds for new stones around the flowerbeds.

The landscape timber border put down many years earlier by the Rosebud-Lott Ag Department, lasted longer than expected, but finally, was in need of replacement.  Rosebud City workers pulled up the rotten wooden timbers and filled in the holes with dirt.  With the WSC providing the concrete stones, city workers laid them down around the flowerbeds. The shrubbery has also been trimmed.

The City also laid down reclaimed asphalt on the south side of the library parking area.  A new picnic table was recently added to the Library grounds by the Rosebud Lions Club.  Patrons are able to connect to the Library Wi-Fi while sitting outside.

The D Brown Library is ready to greet patrons as well as Rosebud High School former students at the Golden Years Reunion to be held on Saturday, April 2.

The Wednesday Study Club sincerely appreciates the City of Rosebud maintaining the D Brown Library, which is fast approaching its 75th Anniversary.

If you have driven by the Rosebud Volunteer Fire Station recently, you may have noticed that the “Rosebud Calaboose” has been cleaned up and painted gray. It was featured in the book “The Texas Calaboose and Other Forgotten Jails” by Bill Moore.

Moore will be returning to Rosebud to see the update according to City Administrator, Ken Murray.  Murray is working on a Texas Historical Marker designation for the “Calaboose.”

Any small gesture to beautify our town of Rosebud is always appreciated.
