D. Brown Memorial Library receives grants

The D. Brown Memorial Library has been selected to receive two grants.

The notification came the beginning of September. Every two years public libraries can apply for the Texas Book Festival Grant. This funding source helps with the purchasing and development of book collections.

This year the D. Brown Memorial Library was selected for the funding amount of $2,500.

This award is to help with the upgrade of all adult sections in the library. We are hoping to purchase over 100 books to add to these sections. It is an honor to be chosen for this award.

A week after the announcement of the Texas Book Festival Grant, the library was notified of another grant we were chosen for.

The Dollar General Literacy Foundations granted the library $4,000 in funding. These funds will be used for materials for the entire children’s section, to qualify for this grant, there must be a Dollar General within 15 miles of the library.

We are proud to have Dollar General in our community. Since October 2021 the library has received over $15,000 in grants and donations. This also includes the contributions from The Wednesday Study Club. With the support and dedication of this group the library would not be where we are today.

We also received a donation of books from Alda Pomykal Armstrong. She was a graduate of Rosebud Class of 41 and was named State Poetrist of 1941 as well. We are thankful for the donations her family has made in her memory. Thank you again from the D. Brown Memorial Library.
