Falls County hits seven COVD-19 cases

As of Saturday, May 30, Falls County has had a total of seven positive cases of coronavirus.

The only information released is that they live on the west side of the Brazos River.

Overall, there are three recovered cases and four still in recovery.

The true number of cases within the county is unknown, as national research shows that there are people who are asymptomatic while sick and that areas that lack access to widespread testing may be subject to an increased number of individuals who do not get tested despite exhibiting symptoms.

As of Monday, June 1, Falls County has administered only 315 tests for the disease, which is lower than most of the surrounding counties.

McLennan County has tested over 5,000 people, while Bell County has administered nearly 11,500, which is to be expected in respect to population ratios. Limestone and Milam Counties have tested nearly 400 and 800 tests respectively. Robertson County is the only one that falls in  the opposite direction, with less than 225 tests given to citizens.

Overall, there have been 1,093,676 tests performed on Texas citizens, with 64,880 coming back positive. Of those 64,880, only 1,678 cases have resulted in a fatality, which is a death ratio of 0.026% fatalities.

State positive cases have gone up by 8,320 cases since Memorial Day and by 39,583 since Texas Governor Greg Abbott began reopening the state on April 27.

Though the number of positive cases each day statewide is starting to trend negatively, citizens are urged to continue following social distancing practices.
