FFA members compete at Area XII Career Development events

Three outstanding groups participated in Area XII Career Development Events hosted by Texas A&M University and Sam Houston State University on April 13.

The Ag Sales team competed virtually for their event and finished fourth in the Area and missed State by only a few mere points. The kids did exceptionally well in some very stressful situations due to “virtually” everything going haywire in the Live events due to technical issues from Sam Houston State University. Sophomore, Nik Caproni, was fifth place high-point individual and Journey Scott was 8th place high-point individual. “Yesterday’s event proves these four individuals are true gems as diamonds are formed under pressure,” said Coach Courtney Wilde. “I couldn’t be prouder!”

The Poultry Judging team finished up their season sitting at thirteenth place in the area. This team consisted of three eighth graders and a ninth grader who held their own going up against seasoned seniors.

“They’ve laid a solid foundation for next year and I am proud of their every effort to try something new and excel the way they have,” Wilde said.

The Livestock Judging team brought home third place in the area which qualifies them for State level competition. Junior Colby Coker was second place high-point individual.

“These four are extremely passionate about all things livestock and we are so proud of their accomplishments thus far,” Wilde enamored.”Bringing the heat and putting RLFFA on the map!!”

The team will compete in the Texas A&M University State Judging events on Tuesday, April 27.
