Food Pantry is serving the Falls County community

All that food! Such is the sight when volunteers stage the food from Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry at the First Baptist Church Marlin parking lot.

On March 25, 2025, amongst other volunteers were members of the Falls Community ARC Coalition Derinda Austin, Rosie Castillo, Olga Rosas, Jan Smith, and Bettye Tarver, who happily served the community.

There was a lot to do: help with registration, organize the types of food, keeping some foods cold, load food boxes on tables, sort and bag the food, quantify how many per family, assist with traffic of both vehicles and pedestrians, determine how many families per vehicle, load food into vehicles, then clean up, break down tables, put away cones - all opportunities to contribute.

Why help? Firstly, “there is always help needed!” exclaims Coordinator Jan Smith. An individual helping is on the front lines, helping people access food and alleviating hunger, which have a significant positive impact on their lives and well-being.

This type of food distribution takes place in the community setting, offering a chance to connect with neighbors and participate in an action that addresses a real need.

Volunteering enhances teamwork, communication, and organizational skills, a valuable experience in a social service environment. Volunteers here talk, share, laugh, and work!

“Seeing the positive impact of my help is incredibly rewarding. I had a purpose for helping and it was appreciated, “expressed a volunteer.

The Central Texas Mobile Food pantry is in Marlin at the First Baptist Church every fourth Tuesday of the month, allowing a volunteer to schedule his/her availability in advance.

Volunteering at food distribution provides valuable insight into the challenges of food insecurity and the importance of community support.

In short, volunteering at the mobile food distribution makes people happy.
