Heartland of America Tour rolls into Marlin with historic Big Boy 4014 locomotive

On Wednesday, Oct. 9, residents and visitors in Marlin will have a rare opportunity to witness a living piece of railroad history as Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014 steam locomotive makes a scheduled stop at the Wood Street Crossing. As part of its Heartland of America Tour, the iconic steam engine will arrive at 11:45 a.m. CT and depart at 12:15 p.m. CT.

Union Pacific’s steam locomotive Big Boy 4014 is one of the largest and most powerful steam engines ever built. This tour celebrates America’s rich railroad heritage, offering spectators a unique chance to witness the grandeur of steam-powered rail travel. Rail fans, history buffs, and families are invited to experience this unforgettable event.

Safety First: Keep Safety Top of Mind For the safety of all attendees, Union Pacific encourages everyone to stay at least 25 feet from all railroad tracks. This includes staying clear of railroad tracks, trestles, and yards as they are private property. Always remember: Never assume tracks are abandoned or inactive—ALWAYS expect a train.

Union Pacific asks the public to be safe and considerate, respecting the right of way and maintaining a safe distance to avoid any dangerous situations. Drones are prohibited near the tracks and tour locations.
