It is finished

To Christians, those were Jesus’ last words according to John 19:30 and are especially meaningful this Holy Week with Easter approaching.

For the Rosebud First United Methodist Church, it has a double meaning.  After the hailstorm last April 2021, church officers began the process of calling the church’s insurance company and getting bids from various roofing companies.  Thanks to Cen-Tex Roofing of Waco, the roof was replaced last November in just two days even with high winds.

For several weeks in December the interior ceilings and walls that had water damage were repaired and repainted.  Several other needed updates were also made.  During this time, a church member mentioned that the cross didn’t look right.  In fact, the word around town was that the Methodist Church was sporting a satanic cross!  The horizontal bar had slipped down the vertical post.  Members knew they had to get it fixed, but how do you get up that high?  Adam Tate, representative from Cen-Tex Roofing, supplied such a lift and Jesse, painter and carpenter working for Cen-Tex, offered to figure out what had caused the cross to slip.

On March 17, 2022, Jesse lifted himself up and removed the entire metal cross leaving just the wooden shaft.  He welded the horizontal bar back in place.  Then he repositioned the entire metal cross back onto the wooden shaft and secured it firmly in place.  During the several hour procedure bystanders stopped and looked up at the work being done.  And the word spread around town as well.

Now, the Rosebud First United Methodist Church can finally say “It Is Finished”.  All of the storm damage has been repaired, and the finishing touch, the repairing of their cross.  Cen-Tex Roofing of Waco along with its associates did an outstanding repair job.  You might even see several Methodist members in the Cen-Tex commercial on TV.

Rosebud First United Methodist Church welcomes visitors and especially this coming Sunday with a special Easter Service at 11 a.m.
