Jay Shults is named Firefighter of the Year

The Falls County Volunteer Firefighters Association recently presented Jay Shults with its Firefighter of the Year Award. Shults has been with the Rosebud VFD for several years and has several training certifications.

Shults teaches other firefighters and citizens first aid and CPR and is willing to train and share his knowledge with those who are willing to learn.

Any volunteer firefighter will tell you when they get that call for help from you, that their lives get put on hold. They will respond at any time, day or night, any time on the year. Shults has responded to 217 out of 262 calls over the years. That is about 188 hours of time he and others give to help in our time of need. For all of 2018 Shults gave 345 hours training others, being trained, assisting on calls, attending county meetings and helping with fundraisers.
