Legacy Weekend set for July 27
U-Turn Church – Rosebud 811 West Main will celebrate “Legacy Weekend” beginning with a Community Fun Day on Saturday, July 27, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with games, water slides, music and more all at no cost to participants. On Sunday, July 28, former Rosebud resident Cassandra “Cassie” Sims will speak during the 10:30 a.m. service.
Cassie graduated from Rosebud-Lott High School where she was voted as her Senior Class President. She was a member of the National Honor Society and served as its Treasurer. She was a member of the Cougar Band, Cheer Captain, Homecoming and Prom Queen and was an integral part of the volleyball, basketball and track team during her high school career. She was Rosebud’s Miss Juneteenth.
Cassandra is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. She also earned a Master’s in Kinesiology from Texas Woman’s University in Denton.
In 2018, Cassie married De’Marcus Sims and moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She and her family are members of Bethany Church and are involved in many areas of ministry there. Cassie is a 10-year Educator and Coach in East Baton Rouge.
She and her husband have a three-year-old daughter.
