Longtime area track coach killed in Monday accident

A longtime area coach was killed on Monday morning in a car accident in Robinson.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Roger Hoelscher,” Chilton ISD released on Monday. “His presence brought joy, laughter, and warmth to athletics, and his contributions will forever be remembered. We lost not only a talented professional but also a kind soul who touched the lives of everyone around him. Let us come together to support each other during this difficult time and remember the positive impact he had here at Chilton ISD.”

Hoelscher was killed in a wreck involving two vehicles on Highway 77 at Robinson Drive on Monday morning around 7:30 a.m.

The Robinson Fire Department responded to the scene at 7:37 a.m. on Dec. 8. With the help of Waco Fire, one person was extricated from a vehicle and taken to the hospital. Two others were also transported to a hospital.

“We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Hoelscher’s family and friends. May they find strength and comfort in their fond memories of him,” Chilton ISD said. “As we mourn the loss of a valuable member of the Chilton ISD family, let us honor Mr. Hoelscher’s legacy by continuing to work together with the same dedication and spirit that he  brought to our school district.

Hoelscher currently coached track at Chilton ISD. He had worked for Rosebud-Lott ISD for many years and graduated from Rosebud-Lott High School.
