Lott resident has book published about growing up in Falls County

Garland Pelzel, who was born and raised in Lott, has written and published a book about what it was like growing up on a dirt poor farm.

It details his years as a young boy spent right here in central Texas in Lott, Marlin, Rosebud and Westphalia.

It is the story of a young man who leaves the cotton fields and the hot Texas sun to make a new life for himself. Garland shares his story of how he leaves the family farm for marriage, children and a career in the United States Air Force. And he shares how his decision to turn his life over to God gave him new direction.

He titled his book “GPS for Living.”

This book is an autobiography of the life of Garland Ray Pelzel. He and his wife, Sue, are retired and make their home in Broken Arrow, Okla. They have traveled extensively in all 50 United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and Europe. Garland was able to visit Germany, and Austria to see where his family immigrated from in the 1800’s.

If you’d like to order a copy of the book, it is available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble websites.
