One woman, four pets dead after Chilton fire

Five bodies were pulled out of the wreckage of a house fire in Chilton on Saturday, Feb. 20.

First responders received a call around 12:02 p.m. to assist with a blaze at CR 493 and CR 4014, across the street from the cemetery.

One woman was able to make it out of the house, but the other died in the incident. Four dogs were also killed in the fire, making five souls lost to the inferno.

Multiple volunteer fire departments assisted, including Chilton VFD, Golinda VFD, Lott VFD, Marlin VFD and Rosebud VFD. The Falls County Sheriff’s Department was on the scene as well.
