Prison transport van slides on wet road, hits pole on way to jail

Falls County officials said an accident involving a prison transport company van occurred around 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

The road was wet, causing the van to slide and hit a pole. Officials said the accident happened near Highway 7 and Highway 320.

Seven inmates and two guards were on the van at the time of the accident. They were on their way to the jail in Falls County.

All of them were taken to the Falls Community Hospital for x-rays. Officials said none of of the injuries are life-threatening.

The Falls County Sheriff's Office, Chilton Fire, the Lott Police Department the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the accident.
