RLISD to dedicate library to outstanding employees

When we talk about heritage or use the word forefathers, most of us think about George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, or Abraham Lincoln.  The list could go on for pages but these were great men in our past that had a significant impact on our lives as American citizens.

Far too often, there is a group of individuals in every generation that have a far greater impact on the lives of individuals here in Rosebud-Lott ISD.  Every single day you send your children to school to be educated and prepared for the future.  Every single day they come home a little more prepared than they were the day before.  Their growth is not an accident or coincidence.  No matter what our field of endeavor, all of us as adults today are contributing members of society because of a teacher or teachers in our past who cared enough to encourage us at an early age to become the best that we can become.

In honor of those teachers at the elementary level in Rosebud-Lott ISD who have given their all for our kids, the RLES family is dedicating their new library to honor their service and commitment to our community.

The Board of Trustees approved the committee’s recommendation at their last meeting on Sept. 16.  The approved criteria from the committee is fairly simple but specific: 1) The individual must have served at the elementary level in any capacity (i.e. – teacher, paraprofessional, custodian, cafeteria worker, administrator, etc.) in either Rosebud or Lott, 2) they must have passed away after serving at least 20 years in the district, or 3) they passed away while they were in service to the district.

On Monday, Oct. 21, at 5:30 p.m., a dedication ceremony will take place in the RLES Library in honor of those who have already been identified.

Many more have already been identified to be placed on the plaque in the future as they fulfill the requirements and we will continue to look for and investigate other individuals who fit the requirements.

If you know of anyone who fulfills this criteria, please send their information to my email address so that we can investigate.

My email is sbrownlee@rlisd.org.  I will need their name, exact years of service (beginning and end), at which school (PK-6th grades only), and when they passed away.  In short, this group of folks are our RLISD forefathers and we are striving to honor the heritage that they have established for us.  They have established a wonderful legacy and we want to assure that their contribution will not be forgotten.
