Rosebud’s Whitfield shining in dance at UNT

Rosebud resident Holly Whitfield was recently selected as one of 30 team members for the University of North Texas Dancers for the second year. There were 60 hopefuls, but only 30 made the cut. Holly is completing her freshman year at UNT as a Dance Education major. Her goal is to complete a bachelor’s degree in dance education and become a Texas Certified dance teacher and either own a studio or teach dance courses in a public high school. Holly is the daughter of Judge and Sherri Whitfield. She has been a student of dance for 16 years beginning at the young age of three. Holly studied ballet, jazz, tap, pointe and hip hop at Joy’s School of Dance in Woodway where she was a Company Dancer for several years. She is a 2018 graduate of Midway High School in Waco. There she danced with the 52-member Goal Tenders team all four years and served as a Lieutenant her Junior and Senior years. Holly trained at the Ballet Magnificat Summer program at Belhaven College in Jackson, Miss., and the New York City Dance Alliance program as well as summer programs through the Texas Association of Teacher as Dancers Convention.
