Rosebud community comes together to help neighbors

The Rosebud community came together to help their neighbors last week.

Ten to 12 dump style trailers, six skid loaders, 10-12 flat bed and utility style trailers came to Rosebud, Saturday, Feb. 27, to help haul trees and limbs from the Texas ice and snow storm that hit our little town with a vengeance. A massive dump site was created at the property of Caleb Miller west of Rosebud to deal with the brush when the city brush dump was closed Saturday due to morning showers.

Chris Troyler and Derek Glaser took the lead to get the word out to anyone in the area with trailers of any kind that could haul brush. Neighbors came to help neighbors as well as a few strangers from Grandview and Seminole. The ladies of the Rosebud Bible Church were responsible for providing lunch to at least 50 volunteers.

I watched pickups pulling trailers line up at properties in Rosebud while a skid loader or volunteers loaded them. They went to the dumpsite and unloaded and returned to Rosebud for another load of limbs. It was like watching  a well organized road construction crew. The last trailer was unloaded about eight Saturday night and several groups are returning Sunday.

Although Rosebud is not fully restored, we have the initial limb and tree problem solved due to the generosity of men, women and children who came together and worked tirelessly in rosebud yesterday.
