Rosebud-Lott readies for playoffs
The Rosebud-Lott Cougars baseball team hosted the Bartlett Bulldogs on Friday April 25. The Cougars fell to Bartlett, losing 15-5 in six innings due to the 10 run rule being enforced. Bartlett got on the scoreboard first in the top of the first inning with two runs to go up 2-0. Rosebud-Lott responded and took the lead 4-2 in the bottom of the first inning. The runs were scored when Carter Doskocil doubled on a fly ball to left field and came home to score on an RBI single by Rolando Leon. That was soon followed by a massive three RBI single from Pryce Rabroker.
Bartlett surged ahead with 13 unanswered runs (two in the second inning, one in the third inning, three in the fourth inning, four in the fifth inning, and three in the sixth inning) to take a 15-5 lead and activate the 10 run rule. Rosebud-Lott traveled to take on the Anderson-Shiro Owls on Saturday April 26 for their regular season finale. The Cou - gars were defeated by the Owls, losing in a 6-5 heartbreaker in walkoff fashion. Rosebud-Lott found themselves trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning when they scored one run to tie the game at 5. Kade Kleypas reached first base on an error by Anderson-Shiro and found his way home to score by tagging up on a sacrifice fly hit by Carson Kahlig. Sadly, Anderson-Shiro responded in the bottom of the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly of their own to walk it off and win the game 6-5.
With this victory, Rosebud-Lott finished the regular season with an overall record of 17-9-1 and a district record of 9-3. Up next, the Cougars will get ready for the postseason as they will be the two seed in the division 1 bracket. They will take on the Johnson City Eagles in the bi-district round of the playoffs.
It will be a one game series and the game will be at Jarrell High School at 7 p.m.
